When I exported a query to excel the column that holds the email addresses
adds after the .com - #mailto:then the original email address again with
another pound sign at the end. What am I doing wrong.

Nothing is wrong but mailto: is a hyperlink and a hyper link has three
parts. You only see the display part.
display text # file name # any reference within the file

Read this site to understand how it is stored and then you will see why your
export looks like it does.

Tks Pete, It's amazing what they do NOT explain in class at the community
college. I understand from reading what you attached, that to make it
easier for the user, you do not see or have to do all the steps it takes to
execute something. So, am I clear that this means it will always export from
access into excel with the three parts of the hyperlink displayed.

You can format excel to hyperlink and it should display correctly. Be
honest with you most of mine go from excel to access. Might ask about this
in an excel group also.
