Email addresses; why automatic?

I would like to type an email address (defined by text having a '@' in it
somehere) into a cell and NOT have it become an underlined, blue
address that, when clicked, takes me to Mail in a new email ready to
send.

From Excel X help, you can control click on the cell, then choose
Hyperlink from the contextual menu. Then choose Remove Link from the
hyperlink dialog box to get rid of the link. I seem to remember that you
could permanently disable hyperlinks in earlier versions, but couldn't
find anything other than this in the help. I would prefer to have a
global preference to disable ALL hyperlinks, email or otherwise, in my
Office documents.

Please make sure you send MacBU that feedback - using the XLv.X
Help/Send Feedback on Excel menu item.
