I have been experimenting with attachment file sizes in Outlook 2007 and
Outlook 2003. I want to notify our network users of the best (smallest file
size) way to include our logo as part of their standard signature. We use
exchange to manage our mail internally and I'm trying to keep email and
storage file sizes to a minimum. I have a 3kb gif file of our logo - I create
a 12 kb email - then paste in the logo and end up with a 34kb email! On the
other hand, I put the 3kb logo in with my standard signature - create a short
email and the total file size is only 9kb. I see the file size changes
whether I'm forwarding, replying, etc.
Can someone tell me how Outlook is handling these attachments? Or at least
provide some "best practices" guidelines on adding a logo to all emails.
Again, my goal is just to make sure that I'm not recommending something that
will later bloat file sizes.
