eMail attachments cannot open

I create Word'03 docs from a custom .dot, then run VBA code to re-format it,
then save it into a SharePoint library. Later, when this doc get sent as
eMail attachment, people cannot open it. They get a message asking them to
logon to SharePoint. The blogs suggest there is some association with the
original template stored in SharePoint. Why? How do I break this association
using VBA?

Dick,

You could probably set the attached template to Normal.dot via code, but
just when you would do this is subject to further investigation. However,
doing so _should_ break the link between the document and the SharePoint
template, as Normal.dot will be available on every users' machine.

Note that this may not necessarily be the best solution though. You may want
to ask the question in the SharePoint Server newsgroup, as the experts there
may have a better understanding of the problem.
