Email Auto Address Problems

Hoping someone can help.

I am using Windows XP Professional V5.1, Outlook 2002. When I am entering
the To field outlook completes the name, when I hit send it says that, that
person does not have a valid email address, and wants me to create them as a
contact. If I fill out the form then it will work for a few days and then it
will happen again, or it will now not find any name that matches.

From reading an earlier post (Subject: Re: Auto Complete Problem /
Observation - 3/4/2005 4:04 PM PST), it mentioned autoresolution and
autocompletion. When I look at my tools, email options, advanced options, I
have checked Automatic Name checking and Suggest names while completing. Can
having both of these on cause conflict. If I understand the post
Autoresolution is Automatic Name Checking, and Autocompletion is Suggest
Names, I understand that they come from different sources. I only have this
problem with one computer the rest in the office have the same features on
and they do not seem to have the same problem. Please help.

Thanks Russ,
I read your suggested reading, but my problem then is if autoresolution and
autocompletion are both working, why then does a name that works one week
does not work next week. Even if the name is in the contact folder and I
have sent an email to the person many times. Then it will stop working. I
am at a loss does this sound like a program problem, should I reinstall
outlook.

Your description is too vague. Autoresolution and autocompletion co-exist by
default, so that is not the problem. We do need to know which you're using
and where your Contacts Data is stored.

Still impossible to say since you have not clarified whether it is
autocompletion or autoresolution that is failing. I have never seen
autoresolution randomly fail for no reason as long as your Outlook Address
Book Service and information store remain intact.
The only known issue that might fit is that if you have a corrupt profile,
it will lose its connection to your autocompletion cache with each restart
of Outlook and have to recreate it.
Creating a new profile from scratch will fix that one.
