Email changes don't take effect

Outlook 2000. Contacts, open an existing contact and
change the email address. Save it. Go to Inbox, start a
new message. Type the person's name in the to field.
Outlook finds the right entry, but it still has the old
email address associated with that name. Does Outlook
have a cache of names and email addresses that needs to
get flushed? How can I get it to use the right new email
address?? Thanks!
