Email Delete Does Not Move to Next Mail

In OL 2003, I open an email by double clicking it in the Inbox (I sometimes prefer reading it this way if the mail is "wide" instead of reading it directly in the main OL window). When I am done and decide to delete it, the window is closed. I believe OL XP replaced that window with the next email in sequence and allowed me to read the next mail in the same email Window. How can I do it in OL 2003?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the SWEN virus, all mail sent to my personal account will be deleted
without reading.
