Email deleted

What have I done wrong with my OL 2002 email? When I
delete unopened email, it appears in the deleted folder.
However, when I delete opened email, it does not appear
in the deleted folder. If I do a simple search for the
email within the deleted folder, I can't find it. If I
use advanced search, I can.

You may have a "filter view" set on your deleted items
folder that only shows Unopened mail.
