I just formatted and did a clean install of XP Home. When I installed
Outlook (98), the email function didn't work. On attempting to send I
received a notice that "Internet Mail is not registered properly. Please
reinstall it. Error 0x80040154."
Attempting to receive mail I got a notice that the "messages couldn't be
received from the server."
I uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook to no avail. My ISP said that all of
my email settings were correct and that error number indicated a corrupted,
shared .dll file.
Outlook 98 fits my business, and I would hate to have to spend a hundred
dollars for the current edition, especially if I ran into the same problem
with it as I have with 98. Any suggestions?
