Email Editor Issues?

I use Word as my email editor and just recently, a couple of things changed,
such as when I forget to captilize the beginning of a sentence it no longer
automatically corrects it. Seems to have happened after an update.

Does the Automatic capitalization work correctly in Word? If not, check
under tools, AutoCorrect and check that the option hasn't been unchecked
(which may have been an update).

I presume that the 'Use Word as the Email Editor' option is still checked in
Outlook Options? If that setting is definitely OK, then rename email.dot as
email.bad and test again.

Forgive my lack of understanding, but I don't understand "...then rename
email.dot as email.bad". Where is this?

email.dot for Outlook is stored in the same location as normal.dot is stored
for Word. It's location depends on your OS but it will be in your profile
somewhere.

Is there actually an email.dot file? I thought it was one of the ones stored
internally. In Word 2003, the New dialog by default displays Blank Document,
XML Document, Web Page, and E-mail Message. Of those, only Blank Document is
represented by a file (Normal.dot) in the Templates folder.

If the OS is Windows 2003 (still not confirmed), then it should be in
Documents and Settings, Username, Application Data, Local, Microsoft,
Templates. There should be both a normal.dot for Word and email.dot for
Outlook in that folder. These are HIDDEN files in Windows so you must have
the option enabled to view hidden files and folders otherwise Windows Search
will not search for hidden files or folders.

Note that it is a DOT not a DOC.
