Email Error when attempting to send email from a hotel room

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I have not trouble with my email unless I am connected to the Internet during a hotel stay. Then it is impossible to send any email messages and this error is returned:

"Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods."

Does anyone know what the fix is for this?
