email errors help!

hi, i'm getting these errors on server when traying to rebulish assigment
(forcing e-mail notification):

what can be the problem? SMTP server works because we can sent e-mail from
server using outlook.

Mindaugas:

The most common issue here is that your SMTP server (Exchange I assume) is
not configured to accept mail relay from your Project Server. Ask your
Exchange administrator to allow mail relay from the Project Server IP
address.

We using SMTP from our Internet provider. But MS Project is on our server. I
don't know are they using Exchange or not, but we don't. You think that i
need to call to my internet provider and ask something "...allow mail relay
from my Project Server IP address ..." ? Maybe it's possible somehow to
pass messagese to "something" that will pass those messeges to SMTP normaly
like Outlook does? When installing Project Server was suggested to type
SMARTHOST, but it didn't work, so i changed it to my SMTP. Maybe i need to
know more about that SMARTHOST and how to congifure it? Any links will be
ok.

Most internet providers require logon before sending SMTP mail, something
which Project Server is not capable of sending.
