Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I emailed a workbook to a pc that uses Microsoft 07.
When I open the workbook on the pc the workbook loads just fine but there are no scroll bars or any worksheet descriptions.

What am I missing?

In Excel 2007 go to Office Button> Excel Options> Advanced - Display options
for this workbook. Make sure there is a check in the box for both Show
Vertical & Show Horizontal Scroll Bar.

I have no idea what you mean by "worksheet descriptions", though.

I checked the options and they both are checked. Description at the bottom is the name of the different worksheets in the workbook.

If the Excel 2007 Options are set properly & the file is saved in a valid
Excel format (not Text, CSV, etc.) there are only two other reasons I can
think of why the Scroll Bars & Sheet Tabs don't display.

The first is that there is a problem with the recipient's installation of
Excel. If all other workbooks display as they should, however, it pretty
much rules out that possibility.

The second is that the file was damaged in email transit and/or the
recipient is opening the *attachment* on the mail server rather than saving
it to the local HD & actually opening the saved file. In order to avoid
those problems resend the file but make sure of the following;

The file is saved as either .xls or .xlsx with the proper extension,
Zip the file & attach the zipped copy,
Ensure that your email software is set to encode the attachment correctly,
and that the user saves the file to disk & opens that copy.

If you still have the problem have the user attach a copy back to you & see
if it has the same display problems. If what you receive works as advertised
it indicates that the error is actually on the PC side in which case you
would do best to pursue it in the PC Excel group:

Hi,

Try maximizing the window.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

That could well be it - in 2007 if both the Excel window & the workbook
window are less than Maximized teh workbook window "floats" withing the
Excel window & it's easy to lose sight of the sheet edges.

I don't understand "click the yes button.

I have minimized, I have made the window all sizes and still no scroll bars.

If I open a new workbook on the pc I can see scroll bars and etc.

Now you have added more information which now has me really confused. It is difficult to do this as the MAC is in my home the pc is 5 miles away. Guess I will have to take the iBook to work and scrutnize this more carefully on site.

The only "more information" was Shane's suggestion to make sure the workbook
window & Excel window are MAXIMIZED [not Minimized or any other sizes].

Maximize was the key. I saw the X button but thought that was to close the file.

I was surprisd and shouldn't be but found out that I can attach the file (which includes the font size & tabs being protected) but when I open it on the pc the font size has changed and sheet is not protected. Just have to live with it, I am not changing to a pc and they aren't changing to a Mac.

THANK YOU for your help!!!
