Email font

I was typing an email and the text suddenly disappeared. The cursor had
become a tiny spec. I had to change the font size to 80 to be able to read
what I was typing. What happened? Then I tried to forward and email, and
the original email appears as a very tiny miniature of its former self. What
happened?
I have closed Outlook and reopened, but these settings remain.
Any suggestions?
