email from 1 address "disappears"

What would cause an email from 1 particular address to "disappear", after
apparently coming in?

I have a user who is using Outlook 2007 in an Exchange environment. Email
from one particular address appears to be coming in (he can see it flash up
in the inbox) but then it seems to just vanish. He was receiving email from
this address previously. He is not having trouble receiving other emails.

Here is what I have checked:

No rule has been created for emails from this address

The address is not in the Junk senders list

I have added the email address to the "Safe" senders list, but wanted some
advice on what else I maybe need to check. Or what could possibly be causing
this problem. I do appreciate any advice! Thank you!
