Email is sent however still remains in the outbox?

I have a question I am hoping someone can help with.

I have a user who works under a Citrix enviroment using outlook 2003.

When the user sends an email the email arrives at it's destination however
the email does not appear in the users sent items , this I found is due to
the fact the email is stuck in their outbox.
If you force a send / recieve the email moves from the outbox in to the
users sent items.

As a temporary work around I have set the users Send / Recieve function to
run every few minutes however I would like to find what is causing the issue
and put in place a proper fix.

Has anyone come across this before and if so what were your experiences?

Any help would be greatly appreciated so thanks in advance!

it usually happens when the connection to the sent folder is interrupted.

So it works when you use send/receive every xx min but not when you use send
immediately?

Thats right, only seems to be affecting this one user since her profile was
re-created.

Am thinking of maybe re-creating the user profile but ideally would like to
avoid that where possible as it is more inconvenience for the user.
