What happens, any error messages, as a test export your contact file to
Excel and try and get your spreadsheet in the same format

That should read "Contact Folder"

thx for your prompt reply. no error messages.

your suggested sounded good. i exported an existing
contact file to excel so that i would have the exact
column labels, etc. i then deleted the contact data and
pasted in just the email addresses under the email
column. i then tried to import back into the same contact
file both as an excel file and csv format but neither
worked. when i used excel, i did have two contact records
appear in outlook contact file but both were blank. so
don't know where to go from here! thx.

How many Contacts are present in the Contact folder and how many are you
trying to import in and lastly what version of Outlook

Re: Excel file - make sure that your "named range" is correctly set to cover
both the "header row" and all the data that you want to import. If not - it
will only import the data covered by the rows/columns defined in the "named
range" which may be much different then what you actually want to import.

Re: CSV - email addr not showing - make sure that the email address you are
looking at is the one you have imported to (also make sure the CSV file
contains the records/data you think it does).

In general - would also suggest you "manually" map your fields instead of
letting Outlook perform an "auto-map" since that doesn't always produce the
results you think/hope it will.
