Email merge HTML

In word2002 and outlook2002 installed performing an email
merge if I choose HTML format to send emails it does not
work. However, if I choose attachment or plaintext it does
work.

Is this a bug?

It works /for most people/ in 2002 and 2003. But quite a few people report
that it does not work, which suggests that something is configured
differently on their system. Since there's more than just Word and Outlook
involved (e.g. there are also a number of MAPI components which are,
technically speaking, independent of Outlook) and since no-one except MS
knows precisely how Word constructs and sends its e-mails when mailmerging,
so far it has been difficult to diagnose what is actually wrong.

Great if an upgrade to 2003 fixes the problem though
