email merge -- hyperlinks are lost from html document

When I create an email merge, I'm losing the hyperlinks
in the original html. All the images and other formating
are there...just the hyperlinks have disappeared.

What's wrong?

I'm using Office 2002. I have Outlook 2002 loaded, with
updated patches. I opened the HTML file in word to begin
the mail merge process. I received no errors. All
emails were delivered. All emails have proper
formating. No test emails have hyperlinks in place.

When looking at the html in Word, you can click on the
links and they are active.
