email merge problems

I use word 2002 + outlook 2003

When finishing the merge wizard and choosing "electronic mail" it works only
if i chooose "plain text" option.
if i choose html format, nothing happens.

second problem:
outlook gives a security warning: "a program is trying to access e-mail
addresses..."
and i have to press "yes" two times for every record, in order to allow this
action.
if i have 100 merged emails, I have to confirm 200 times.
is there a way to avoid this ?

The lack of html is probably attributable to the mismatch of Office
products. It was corrected with one or other of the many updates. In any
case, you have no control over how your messages are viewed. Many recipients
will have html format disabled.

The security warning is easier to deal with. See the ClickYes utility listed
on the downloads page of my web site.

Hello Graham, thanks for your helpfull answer.
the "say yes" works very well.
as for the mail format, I also tried to send the mail by outlook express
(windows xp family) by setting it as default mailer. the problem stayd the
same.
(I also tried to return to outlook 2002 but it doesn't function)

I need a good solution to send comercial e_mails to a distribution list
(about 200 adresses), in html format that includes background, graphics,
pictures, hyperlinks etc.
can you recomand me one

Regards

Outlook Express will not merge to html. I suspect that you are going to have
to install Word 2003 with all its update for this to work - maybe :(

I have no knowledge of third party e-mail products and doubt that you would
be able to use Word to merge with them as Word is intended to use Outlook
for this purpose. Peter Jamieson has some extra information on his web site
at http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0002.htm that may just be helpful in this case.

I will repeat the warning in my last message - many users will either
discard html e-mails because of the potential to hold harmful code or have
their mail readers configured to display only text. You stand a very good
chance that these messages will be discarded as spam. If you want to pursue
it further I suggest you do some research with Google or your preferred
search engine.

I was having a similar problem. You have to do a couple of things.

1. Tell Outlook to use compose in HTML: Tools>Options>Mail Format tab
2. Tell Internet Explorer that Outlook is your default mail handler: IE7
Tools>Internet Options>Programs
3. Set Outlook as the Default mail handler: Tools>Options>Other

Try doing that. My email merge only works properly if Outlook is open when I
do it, so that might help too.
