Email merge without using Outlook

I would like to do an email merge w/o using Outlook or Outlook Express. I do not have either installed on my computer and choose not to as my current email program does not support it for security reasons. My current email program is the default program, I even reinstalled it after switching to 2003, just in case. I've adjusted the Options menu per previous suggestions as well as made sure the command hadn't been magically deleted but to no avail. I can't send email messages or faxes from Word.
