email merge

I want to do an email megre that sends personalised emails to a number of
individuals.

If I try and use my email contacts as Data Source, then I seem to be only
able to include data from the Contacts File in the merged mail.

I need to include other data (currently in Excel).

Can I merge to Outlook from EXcel and pick the email addresses up from Excel?

Yes.

If you have everything you need for personalisation in Excel, and you have
the e-mail address for each contact in Excel, then you should still be OK -
select your Excel worksheet as the data source and merge to Outlook.

If you have some of the personalisation data that you need in Excel, and
some in Outlook contacts, there is no really straightforward,
general-purpose approach - if all you need is the email address out of
Outlook and the number of contacts is not too large, perhaps even manually
updating your Excel sheet manually with the e-mail addresses would be
enough. If you also have Access, and you also have columns that would let
you do a reliable join (e.g. if you have Lastname and Firstname in both
Contacts and Excel and no duplicate Lastname/Firstname combinations) then
you could consider creating two linked tables in Access and taking things
from there.

Thanks Peter

I can get the email addresses into my Excel datafile, but how do I get the
email address into the To: field in Outlook?

I think I am almost there!!

If you merge to e-mail, you will be prompted for the field that contains the
e-mail addresses.

I will investigate the MapiLab solution. Many thanks for your time and
expertise!
