email newsletter for blind

T

todd

Is there a way to take a publisher document and email it so that all text is
readable by a software reader? When I send my newsletter, it becomes a jpeg
and a JAWS reader cannot see the newsletter for those whom are blind that are
to receive it. Is there any way I can send this document so that all text
stays text?

Thanks,

Not without almost crippling your layout.

Your best bet is to create a PDF file and email that.

Since graphics are not necessary in a
publication for the blind...why not create
a text only version? Then you could paste
it in an e-mail message as simple text.

Or....possibly you could e-mail a .pdf file...

Try this...

Download and install the following free PDF Creator.

PrimoPDF
http://www.primopdf.com/

With your new program installed...open your project
in Publisher and go to...File / Print.

On your Print screen...open the drop window and
select PrimoPDF as your printer.

Click...OK...now you will see the PrimoPDF screen
and you can browse to a save folder.

When you click...OK..your .pdf file will be created
in your save folder.

The resulting .pdf file can be viewed on any computer
that has the free Adobe Reader installed.

I think you only get the choice of voice with Macs.

It has been a bit since I checked but I thought there was only one male
voice. I'll have to check.

Nope - I don't even get a choice and yes, I have Reader 7.0.8. The Help
file says it uses the available voices installed on your system. Maybe it's
because I have the Speech aspect of Office turned off?

I just checked and nothing I do will allow me to change the voice. Where are
you getting MS Mary? Even Windows doesn't offer me her. I can use LH
Michael, LH Michelle, Microsoft Anna, or Microsoft Sam.

No clue. My voice doesn't read fast enough for me any way. It's as if my
voice has taken sleeping pills and is just about to drop off. :)

Hi are you using MS Vista to get Microsoft Anna? Is this the same one
as the one in Microsoft MapPoint? \Mappoint
2006\MapPoint\MSMap\redist\MSTTSEng\MSTTSEng and MSTTSEngine.
"Microsoft English TTS Engine".

Why is MS Anna sound better? is it because of TTS 2.0 or SAPI 5.3?

No,. I'm using XP altho I do have MapPoint 2006 installed on my system. No
clue if it's the same or better because I generally have my sound turned off
completely. As long as some idiot decides they need to add crappy music or
annoying sounds to their websites, I'll keep my sound off unless there is
something specific that I want to hear.

All music distributed as a web page/email background either adds to the
download time long enough to be classed as crappy or is MIDI rendered
badly enough to be classed as crappy. If I want to listen to music
whilst reading an email, I will choose it myself. Anyone who tries to
force music onto readers of their material is classable as an idiot IMNSHO.

Thank you.

I would much rather see *content* instead of *glitz* on a website. When I
see all the flashing text, and rotating graphics, and swirly cursors, that
tells me the person who did the work is trying to keep me from noticing that
all that site contains is their cat's blog. It's like they are saying "Look
what I learned how to do on the Internet today and Fluffy hacked up a big
fur ball!"

Most of the web sites with music and sounds are amateur sites put up with
