Email Notification of Responses

Is there any hope that we will ever see email notifications to responses to
our posts in this HTML interface?
To the best of my knowledge it stopped working sometime late last year
(around October) and hasn't worked since then.
Makes backtracking to find people that need more assistance than just the
initial offering damned difficult, tedious, time wasting and frustrating to
all concerned, I'm sure.

Micky,
No apology required - your English is without doubt better than any of my
second languages (and Hebrew is not even one of those). And thanks for the
insight. And a special thanks for verifying that it isn't just me that is
aware of this problem.

Is there a link to the Technet - TechCenter forums equivalent of these
forums? I'll search for it, but if I can get it handed to me on a silver
platter, so much the better.

As for Microsoft shutting down support of this venue, they should alert
people about it, tell us it is unsupported, and provide links to better
services.

I know that this lack of alerts happens several times per year, that has
been a pet peeve of mine since I first started posting through this
interface. But in the past the problem was normally corrected, as you said,
within a few hours to a few days at most -- in this case it has apparently
been broken for almost 4 months now.
Pathetic service for a company with the resources, talent and tools of
Microsoft. For any smaller outfit, that kind of response would result in
abandonment of the site by its visitors in a very short time - the site would
die from lack of visitors caused by lack of support.

To the best of my knowledge MS intends to "shut-down" the present(!)
Interface of the Discussion-Groups and reopen them in the new layout like
those already operating in the "Technet" - TechCenter forums.
A "little bird whispered" to me that the MS team tries to avoid any time
consuming as far as the "Old" MUI is concerned.
From a short visit at the "Technet" Forums I allow myself to say that it
looks OK - at east much better than this one.
One gets an E-Mail alert when someone replies in a thread he participated -
and the "Great" advantage - MS finally understood that most supporters like
to get those alerts and therefor the check-box is marked by default.
[If someone does not want an alert - he will have to un-check it]
In addition - every thread is "pushed up-front" the first page and is not
vanished somewhere in the older pages.
This is especially important in forums with large traffic - like this one.
I don't think that the "switch" will take place before June-July 2010 -
maybe the petition you started will wakeup somebody at MS move things faster.
Btw: The lack of Alerts is not the first time. It happens 3-4 times, a year,
and it took MS a few hours to repair it.
*** Sorry for my bad English ***
