Email Notification

I've searched many sites for the answer to receiving Email Notification. I've found the script here and I've made the appropriate changes to no avail. Sometimes the sound works, though I'd much rather have a notification displayed on screen that would stay until I close the notification. I'm using:
Entourage version 10.1.4 and MAC OS 10.5.4. I see that this is a problem and if there's an update or soon to be update, please advise.

Thanks
Christine

Thanks. I finished the download and went back to the other posts to copy the script again to get on screen email notification, but my script editor gave the syntax error again. It doesn't mean anything to me to have a sound for email notification when I don't have the sound turned up high and there are other noises that would prohibit me from hearing that sound.

If anyone has information to resolve this, please advise.

What script are you referring to?

In Entourage preferences, Notifications ˆ Display an alert on my desktop.
This would give you a visual notification.

You can also use Growl for notifications.

Use Growl for Entourage Notifications

I checked in General Preferences - Notification and there isn't that option. Though I now checked and the version is 1.0.1.6, so not sure why when I selected the download of 10.1.9. The script I was referring to was a reply post that you made to another email question.

I checked in General Preferences - Notification and there isn't that option.

This option might not be available in Entourage X.
Though I now checked and the version is 1.0.1.6, so not sure why when I

Even if ALL the Office applications aren't updated each time, the Microsoft
Component Plugin, which isn't an app, will always show the latest update.

Are you sure you followed all the directions to use the script?

Rule to Play Sound <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/sounds.html>

Can you download this script and run it.

In case the above link does not work:

Place the script in the Entourage Script Menu Items located in the
Documents/Microsoft User Data Folder.

You can copy the contents and paste them here. For Entourage X you will see
something different.

Thanks Diane for making this great effort to help with this issue. When I went to the link from your first post there was only one selection for me to chose for Office X for Mac, which was 10.1.9. Though after the install I checked About Entourage and now the version is 10.1.6, not 10.1.9 as you've indicated
Even if ALL the Office applications aren't updated each time, the Microsoft

I will try that install again.

As to the script
Are you sure you followed all the directions to use the script?
Yes, I had previously tried the Growl notifications and setting a rule to use that script (several times), but had no notification displayed. Each time I would attempt anything new I the old script and rule. Then I start Entourage again, and making sure that I apply all rules. I tried the script again and placed it in the Entourage Script Menu folder. There is a sound that I've received email, but this isn't what I want as I can barely hear that sound. At one time I did have the email icon displayed for new email, but that hasn't been around for a while.

For visual, I wouldn't care if the icon would bounce to notify me of mail. It sounds like my company needs to purchase a newer version of Entourage. Since there are only two of us using Entourage (Macs) and the rest of the company uses Outlook, it's doubtful there will be an upgrade.

10.1.6 is correct for Entourage X.

Check System Preferences for the sound volume.

Sounds like you might need Exchange then. Try to convince them that you need
the upgrade just for the correct time. Entourage X is not daylight saving
time compliant.
