Email problem

I am using Outlook Express 6.0. I also check my mail when not at my computer
through Yahoo webmail. I have only one e-mail address.

There are times when a sender sends me an e-mail that I normally receive on
Outlook Express. Sometimes I do not get the e-mail from that sender only to
find out later that it showed up in my Yahoo mailbox. This is aggravating
since I only check it occasionally. In the meantime the sender is wondering
why I do not respond. There have been no changes in my Outlook Express setup
nor have I blocked any of these recipients. Why, I wonder, are these e-mails
not showing up on Outlook Express?

Any thoughts?

Yes. You haven't explained the problem properly. If it is showing up in your
Yahoo! mailbox, and not MS Outlook Express, you need to explain more about
how you have things configured. Only one email address; but in which domain?
Is it 'yahoo.com', or something else? Have you configured Yahoo! Mail to
poll your email account, or is this an ISP-Yahoo! partnership, such as AT&T
and Verizon have in the U.S.? The "why" depends upon factors yet to be
explained.

Thanks for the reply.

The e-mail domain is sbcglobal.net. And the webmail account is an
AT&T/Yahoo partnership. There is a button called Web & POP Access button
which is checked. The label says:

"Access AT&T Yahoo! Mail via the web interface and through any email
program using POP3 (e.g., Eudora, Outlook, or Netscape Mail)."

There is another button that says:

"Forward incoming AT&T Yahoo! Mail messages to a different email address"

but it is not checked. I hope this helps.

You need to post in an Outlook Express newsgroup...OE and Outlook are two
different programs.

It does. I am very familiar with that arrangement, having a 'pacbell.net'
email address (or three), and access to '[pop3|smtp].att.yahoo.com'. If you
have SpamGuard configured to not download email it thinks is spam, such
email will never show up in MS Outlook Express (which, BTW, is not the topic
of this newsgroup; and I forgot to cross post to the proper group in my last
reply), but will show up in the (now renamed) "Spam" folder.

There has also been a recent spate of login problems with
'pop.att.yahoo.com', as reported in the DSL Reports AT&T forums by an AT&T
insider. Covers all regions: West, Midwest, Southwest, Northeast, and
Southeast.

Thank you. I have turned SpamGuard off and will hope this solves the problem.

You're in the wrong newsgroup. Outlook is not Outlook Express. Ask in
microcoft.public.outlookexpress.general

You can also leave SpamGuard on, but configure POP access to also include
the Spam folder in the download. Messages Yahoo believes are junk will be
marked with :"[Bulk]" in the subject and you can deal with them that way in
Outlook. Express.
