Email reply format in Outlook 2000

When ever I reply to an email, the left edge is not aligned with the
original message. It's farther left than the original message.

Even if it's a email with many different users replying. All of their
replies are lined up on the left edge. Mine does not line up.

For example,

My reply xxxxxx

Original message xxxxxxxxx

Instead of the left edge lining up, it is shifted to the left.

Any ideas on why this does not work for me but does work for others?

Thanks,
Jasper

It is normal, depending on the message format, for Outlook to shift the
content of the original message to the right when replying. Usually,
however, there is a colored vertical bar down the left margin that does line
up with what you type. Here's an attempt at a more graphical
representation:

Why is it that when you look at all the other replies, they are lined up.
But when I reply, it shifts it over?

What other replies? Do you mean the message chain in the message you
received? That all depends on how the mail clients the other people use are
configured.

Yes, I do mean the message chain.

If that depends on how the other mail clients are configured than how should
I have mine configured so it follows the same format as the other mail
clients. Why is my reply the only one that gets shifted?

Thanks!

Brian,

I found it! Its the setting that says 'When replying to messages, include
and indent the original message'.

It was on the very first page of the email options. Can't believe I didn't
see that.

Thanks for your help!!

The only settings you have available are in Tools>Options>E-mail Option. I
suspect you have "Include and indent original message text" chosen. Try
"Include original mesage text" instead.
