Email reviewing and deleting slow!

B

Bannersonaroll

I am running OL2003 on an exchange/sbs in cache mode.

It can over 5 seconds to review and switch to new email. Mostly I just need
to delete.

I need some help in optimizing this time hog.

Thanks,

Brad

Enable autopreview and you may find less time consuming.

Brian:

I gave it a try. I am still dealing with the lag.

Thanks for your input.

Have you ruled out network problems? Do you have mapped network drives? A
firewall enabled?

No --- I have not. WHere should I begin? Could the firewall be
malfunctioning or configured incorrectly?

It could be anything... my first step would be to try a new profile - no
need to delete the current profile or configure signatures etc, just make a
new profile and see if it is faster. If it's better, delete the ost for the
old profile and let outlook rebuild it.

Does it happen on all email or just some (ie, HTML)? If only html, has it
always been this way or did it just start? (Just start could mean a recent
update is causing it).

This is not a new problem. In fact it occurs on other machines on our
network. What is the process for creating the new profile?

if it's a problem on all computers, I'd look at issues with the network.

Could it still be a network problem if I am running in Cached mode? If so
where would be a good place to start looking?

Our organization is having the same problem. All PC's are functioning much
slower now that we are on Outlook 2003 with Exchange 2003 servers. We have
several branches across the country and they are all reporting this problem.
We have looked at PC CPU utilization and it seem to be normal and not spiking
when the slowness occurs. We are not running cached mode. When we tested
that, the slowness was even worse. Any ideas on network issues to begin
investigating would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
