Hi everyone..
I have tried several times to involve Symantecs in vain, so now I try this
forum as someone here might possess the knowledge:
In Norton Internet Security (NIS) 2003 Symantec designed a email progress
indicator, when scanning outgoing mail. The small window slide up from the
status bar in lower right corner. The progress indicator was visible "on top"
of the email client (i.e. Outlook) In NIS 2004/2005 they moved the progress
indicator behind the email client interface so it would only be visible when
resizing the email client. An odd decision as the user can hide the progress
indicator by removing a checkmark in options, if the user do not want the
progress indicator to be shown. Symantec says it is by design ! but to me it
seems irrational, as why have a progress indicator and then hide it behind
the email client so no one can see it ?? The email client would normally not
be resized in regular use, as this would but limitations on the users ability
to navigate in the email clients interface. Despite this incomprehensive
change in design by Symantec, could anybody tell me which registry keys that
might control whether the progress indicator would be fully visible in front
of the email client, or hidden behind the email client interface. I'm quite
familiar on working in the registry. Someone else might have experienced the
same I have and found a way "to bring back the progress indicator up front"
so it would be visible when sending outgoing mail, as it was in NIS 2003.
Thanks. Anders.
