Email sent from me to me is now going into the junk folder twice

W

I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 on a Gateway computer running Windows
Vista. I have been using this computer and software for a couple of years.
I also have my system set to download and install updates regularly for both
Office and Vista. I will outline below, now, my specific problem that just
started occuring within the past week or two.

I, too, often copy myself or include my email address in a distribution
list. Now, when I check my email each day, I find two copies of these
messages sent to me from me in my junk email folder. Here are the problem
solving strategies I have tried to this point:
--- Marked the messages as NOT JUNK
--- Checked the box to "always trust messages from <my email address>
--- Reviewed (both on screen and by printing out) the Blocked Senders list -
verified that my email address is NOT included on this list
--- Reviewed the safe senders list -- unable to add my email address to this
list
--- Rebooted the computer and restarted Outlook multiple times
--- Spent two days looking online for solutions on Microsoft website (kept
going in circles but eventually got here). So far no solutions found online.

I see a similar post in this forum -- but noted that there was not a
solution provided. That is why I am trying a new post. Any advice or
suggestions that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

why can't you add yourself to the safe list? this is not a good idea
anyway, spammers send mail using your name and many spam filters will tag it
as spam.

Are you using a 3rd party antispam filter? What is outlook junk setting on?
What type of email account do you use?

In answer to your questions:

-- when I try to add my email address to the Safe Recipents list, I get a
popup error that I cannot add my own email address to this list. I agree
with your recommendation about not doing that because of spammers. But, I
was trying to solve the problem of my emails going in to the junk folder.

-- I have Trend Micro AntiVirus and Webroot SpySweeper installed. But, they
scan files and email attachments. They do not keep a list of safe and
blocked senders (I checked this again). A long time ago, with a different
computer, the antispam (3rd party) program did have such lists. So, I
understand what you were looking for here.

-- I'm not entirely sure what you are asking for in the third question. My
email is sent/received via Microsoft Outlook. When I look at the Account
Settings, it is a POP3 account type. I have been using this account for
years with no problems until the past two weeks (in regards to this issue).

I have not made any changes to the settings for the email account/options.

Hopefully, this will help you with trying to solve my problem.

I have the exact problem on continually having to tell Outlook that
email from a safe sender is not junk.

I am running Outlook 2007 SP2 on Vista using a gmail's POP account and
AVG email scanner. My trusted domains are in the safe list and the
blocked list look ok. My email does not appear in either. My level
of protection is set to low.

Thunderbird is starting to look real good. At least they don't rely
on athe custome

This week, I spent quite a bit of time trying to solve this problem. I have
finally resolved it. Here is what I did:
First -- I exported the list of blocked senders to a text file and saved it
to a file in my computer.
Second -- In Outlook 2007, I removed all the blocked senders in my junk mail
filter.
Third -- I tried sending email messages to myself -- and they were still
going in the junk email folder -- two copies of the same message.
Fourth -- I checked the Rules and Alerts that I had. There was one with a
strange name on it. I did not recognize it. The rule was that email from
this sender (unknown to me) would be sent to my junk mail filter. I do not
recall every setting up this rule! I deleted the rule and tried sending
email messages to myself again. This time it worked like it should!
Fifth -- I copied and pasted the blocked senders list from the text file
saved earlier back into the Blocked Senders list in Outlook 2007. One more
round of test email messages to myself. Things worked correctly.

This was early this week. So far, everything is working correctly. The
only problem now is that when I am checking my email messages, I get about
half way through my list and Outlook 2007 stops responding.
