Email signature format changes when forwarding or replying--why?

I created a business signature for my emails, containing the company logo and
using "rich text" format. When I compose an original msg, the signature
displays correctly. However, when I forward or reply a msg that was composed
in plain text or HTML, my signature displays incorrectly--double-spaced and
minus the logo. I formatted my messages to always use my fonts when replying
or forwarding. Can anyone help? Thanks very much.

Outlook always uses the format of the original message when replying or
forwarding so, naturally, a Rich Text signature will have its attributes
changed when the message to which it is appended is not Rich Text.

Thanks for your reply as I have exactly the same problem whereby on certain
replies my signature becomes double spaced.

Do you know if it's possible to prevent Outlook 2003 from adopting the
formatting of the other person's email?

It is not possible to change Outlook's behavior in this regard.

Thank you, Brian. How odd that we have to reply as Outlook chooses rather
than as we choose. So many other options available, too. Ah well!

You can certainly reply as you choose. Manually change the format to the
one you want. One click does it. I do it extensively, making sure all my
outgoing mail is in Plain Text. You can even put the format choices on the
toolbar.

Thanks again, Brian. I use html - is there any reason to use plain
text?

Is there any reason to use HTML? It adds information only under specific
conditions. Glitz and glitter never add information and information is,
after all, the essence of communication, not fancy stationery, colored
fonts, or fancy effects.

My boss is having the same problem, however, it happens randomly when she
appends her "HTML" replies to emails originally formatted "HTML." In
addition, her signature is double-spaced every time she composes a new email
message.

Her set up is exactly like mine and I have no problems at all... the only
difference is that her PC is running on XP &mine is Windows 2000... could it
be an XP issue and not an Office 2003 issue?

I just found another post by rewording my question and found a solution to
the problem. If you re-create your signature using Shift+Enter, instead of
Enter, after each line you should find that your signature will not be
double-spaced... not sure if the logo problem will still exist.

Are you running Windows XP?

OK Steve, go to Outlook options, format and signatures then advanced edit.
Then when Word editor opens your signature you originally saved as HTML
simply do a "save as" and change the format to plain text. All the formatting
you chose for your "glitz and glitter" signature as Mr Tillman described it,
should stay the same. Logo might be a problem but some tweaking in the word
doc might secure it (try butting it in a texty box without border for
example).

Genius! I was having the same issue and this solution worked for me. I am
using a text box and a graphic image and changing the hard return format did
the trick...

Dear, dear JJ0467...I have been struggling with this problem for months. I
send about 15 to 20 emails a day and sometimes lots more, and the double line
in my company signature was driving me crazy. I tried everything, but your
solution to Shift+Enter was so simple, I almost cried! To think I wasted so
many frustrating hours pulling my hair out over this. Why doesn't MS make
this solution more accessible to users of their product or simply fix the
(damn) problem?
