email spam

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: imap I have emails (some marked spam others with the red envelope) in my Spam folder that I cannot delete or move into the Trash folder. I've tried moving (using the move option), dragging it to the Trash and using the control button to purge the emails but no luck.

When I have selected all from the edit menu and hit the delete icon only a couple of emails delete. Any ideas?

Go to Tools --> Accounts... and double-click your IMAP account.

Under the Advanced tab select "Move messages to the Deleted Items
folder" instead of "Mark messages as deleted".

Hope this helps!

Bill,

Thanks for the info but nothing has changed with the above suggestion. Occasionally an email will delete but I have 18 spam/red enveloped emails that will NOT move or delete.

Any other ideas?

Hi Jim,

ctrl-/right-click the Spam folder and choose Repair Message List from
the contextual menu. That ought to solve your problem. If it doesn't,
post back and we'll find another solution.

If it doesn't,
post back and we'll find another solution.

This sounds like database corruption if the above solutions do not work.

Create a new Identity in Entourage (under Entourage in the Menu bar, select
Switch Identity). Add your IMAP account and let it sync back up. Does the
problem go away?
