Email Sticky Notes

I use outlook extensively and much appreciate all the changes made in 2007
concerning the ease of transferring Emails to the task list. the one thing I
still think would greatly benefit this programs organizational features is to
allow a sort of "sticky note" in yellow or something to be atached to an
email so that when you bring up the email you see it in the corner (or at
least see an icon that you can hover over to make it appear, like comments in
Excel Cells), that way when someone sends an email that requires other info
you dont have to change and save it or resend it to your self with the notes;
it will be clear that there are notes on the email and they stand out from
the rest of the mail. they are also NOT included (unless you want them to
be) on any replies or forwards of the email.

This is incredibly easy to do (except for the custom icon) with a custom form region. I've posted detailed information on getting started with custom form regions for personal use at http://spaces.msn.com/turtleflock-ol2007/blog/cns!C1013F1F9A99E3D8!144.entry. The example adds a date/time field and a numeric field for tracking birthdays, but you can just as easily create a new text field and add a text box control to allow the user to type a comment into an open message and save it. Such comments would even be visbile in the reading pane.
