Are all of my emails and outlook information stored on my hard drive? If so,
is there anything i can do with outlook to free up space on my hard drive? i
have an older computer and my hard drive is nearly full.

I have DSL connection ... I'm not on a shared network server.

Depends on your account type but I assume you are running a POP3 account;
yes, all info is stored on your harddisk in a pst-file.

Thanks for the tips. Yes ...I'm running a POP3 account. Unfortunately I
don't have a CD burner -- maybe it's time to buy an external hard drive until
I can purchase a new computer. I'll compact my inbox and sent folders for
now. The total size of my Outlook is 23454KB. Is that too large?

One more question ... are the archive folders also taking up hard drive
space? I'm storing quite a bit of information there from previous events
i've worked on.

23MB isn't large. My pst-file is about 1.5GB :)

Outlook 2003 formatted pst-files by default are limited to 20GB but can be
extended to practical unlimited size (were talking TB then).

Archive files are also stored on your computer. Just do a search on your
computer for pst-files (make sure you include hidden/files folders in your
search).

For backup purposes less than 6 months it might be eassier to buy an
external hard drive or a large memory pen, thumb drive, USB stick (or
whatever nickname they have in your country ;-) over a CD/DVD burner.
