Email which Outlook attempts to send, but doesn't exist.

I have a pop3 email account set up in Outlook 2003. Outlook keeps attempting
to send the a message. The problem is, the message doesn't exist in the
outbox. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue? I can't delete a
message from the outbox if it isn't there. <confused>
