Email won’t go into italics in outbox & won’t send

When I create a new email and click send, the email closes and goes into the
outbox as I’d expect – but is not displayed in italics, so that when I
send/receive it is ignored.

Oddly, if I open the unsent email, right click on the to-address and select
send mail, then re write the email and click send it goes into the outbox in
italics and hey-presto will be delivered to recipient.

I’m using Outlook 2003 under Windows XP (Home, SP2) and Norton Internet
Security 2004.

This generally means there is a 3rd party addin/tool that is interrogating
the message. This could be NIS2004 or some other program like ICQ instant
messenger.
