I am getting tons of OLD emails over 1,000 emails that were either deleted or are just coming back... How can I stop it?

I am getting tons of OLD emails over 1,000 emails that were either deleted or
are just coming back... How can I stop it?

These are messages that were left on the server. This can happen if your
rebuild your database or your server installs new software and reboots the
server. (this option is set under the Options tab in the Account window)

Your best option is not to keep mail on the server in the Inbox. Get an IMAP
account if you want to archive mail on the server.

To get rid of duplicates use one of the scripts on this page.
