Hi Loux:
There's no "secret" to it: if the PC can't read what you have sent by
Hotmail, it would normally mean that the PC is missing an update.
Sending out of Word 2008, you would normally be producing a Microsoft Office
Open XML file (a .docx).
If your friend has not updated their copy of Word for about two years, they
will not have the .docx compatibility pack. They can get it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-
8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en
If, for some reason, they can't or won't install the converter, then you can
make a copy and downgrade it to the .doc format. Be aware that when you do,
you will lose or downgrade many of the modern features in it, so never do
this to an original file.
Cheers
Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
HI,
I am trying to send a word document made on my Mac, by my hotmail address, to
a friend with a PC, not Mac. My friend is not able to open it once I send it.
Please advise on the secret to emailing docs to PCs.
Gratefully,
Loux
