Emailing to entire address book

Although I can select large numbers of email addresses and drag them to an email, I cannot select all the addresses and drag them. Is the only way to send to my entire address book to put them all in one huge group and then list the group on the bcc line?

Do you realize that your ISP has limits on how many people you can send to
in one message? This is spamming.

You seem to be making a moral judgment on a technical question. I am not contemplating sending spam, I am asking if there is a way to send a message to everyone in my address book other than putting them all in a group first. I can highlight bunches of names in my address book and drag and drop on the 'to', cc or bcc line, but I don't seem to be able to select all the names at once.

Call it what you want but sending to everyone in your Address Book is spam.
IMHO. Your ISP doesn't care what you are sending, they have limits. The
number of emails you can send depends on the Host or your ISP. Some indicate
no more than 100 emails in a batch and no more than 500 in a day. Others
limit it to 50 per message. You¹ll have to contact your ISP to find out what
your limit is.

I suppose you could create a group and add all recipients to that group.
Then you address to the group and use the split recipients script.

Get this script ,Split Recipients X. This script will replicate messages
into the number of copies needed to comply with an ISP's maximum number of
recipients allowed per outgoing message.

Note you will need to edit to get out newsletters, announcements, mailing
lists etc. to arrive at a list.

So if a friend or client of yours sent you an email notifying you of a change of email address, you would consider that spam? I would consider it a courtesy to keep me updated. How else would I get in touch with her in the future? Spamming, according to my online dictionary, is to send the same message indiscriminately to a large number of people. The key word is 'indiscriminately'.
