Emails automatically disappearing in Outlook 2007

J

john

I am using standalone, no exchange server, Outlook 2007 to retreive
POP3 emails. It is working flawlessly with the exception that some
emails automatically disappear. They come in and if I'm fast enough I
can get them open. Otherwise they are gone. No deleted folder,
nothing. Once they are closed they are gone.

I am using Wireless Sync with Verizon, and the emails of it not
working are the ones I know are having this problem. I just don't
know if it is affecting any other emails and this is what bothers me.

Junk Email filtering is turned off.
I have no rules setup.
Auto Archive is off.
Views are set to show all.

Other software in use is Norton 360, which I can find no settings for
solving this problem.
I am using Plaxo to synchronize calendars between two machines, but it
doesn't sync email. So I don't think that is it.

I just don't get it. It's so frustrating, because for some reason
something is permanently deleting these emails....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have 4 read items showing. Can it still be that I have it set
wrong? It is set to show all.

Ok. I disable Norton Email scanning, which it says is only for
attachments and no luck.

It may be something with the sync. Can you stop using it to see what
happens? Do you know if the disappearing messages are spam?

It may be getting flagged as spam. But it is actually a notification
email that I want to get telling me that the program failed to sync.
Not using the program means not getting email on phone which I would
like to keep doing. It never did this on Outlook 2003, XP SP2, Admin.

Greetings -

I have the same problem with Outlook 2007 - some messages are
automatically being permanently deleted. I can recover the deleted
files, but it's a bit of a pain to chase 3 or 4 messages a day. I have
no filters which send a message to the deleted folder, let alone
permanently delete them. All messages are displayed, both read and
unread. When I recover a deleted message, it will be deleted again
within 30 seconds from the Inbox - while I watch.

It keeps getting weirder, though. If I quickly drag the messgae to
another folder, it won't be deleted, giving me a chance to look at it
and change the message's status to 'read'. If I then drag the same
message back to the Inbox, it won't be deleted. If I drag it back to
the Inbox while it is still designated as 'unread', however, it will
be deleted again.

The 'read' message can sit in the Inbox indefinitely; however, if I
change its status using 'mark as unread' on the local menu, Outlook
will permanently delete it again.

I'm using Kaspersky, but email AV is disabled, as the email is checked
first by a Barracuda Spam Firewall at my ISP's server.

My OS is Windows XP SP2.

Curiouser and curiouser - any thoughts?

Thanks - Dennis

I'm troubled with the same problem. But how do you recover permanently
deleted emails?

thanks, JB
