Emails Disappear from Outlook 2003

1 week old emails in the Inbox disappear by itself. I can't locate the
emails using the Advanced Find feature. It seemed like the emails have
been deleted permanently.

Current computer is: Windows XP Pro SP2, Outlook 2003, Microsoft
Exchange Server set up.

I checked the delivery mailbox locations and it is set up to the server
for only one location. No rules set up on this computer. As
researching for this topic, I already checked on the setting on View ->
Arrange By -> Current View -> Message. No filter rules have been
applied. The missing emails are not in the Archieved folder either.

Any other possibility on this issue?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lisa

I'm having much the same issue as Lisa. Similar computer setup, but no
Exchange Server. I'm running this configuration for only a couple of weeks.
For years I used Outlook Express with almost no problems, but I needed email
merge capability, so we added Outlook to the mix. The transition was fine,
but Outlook has become a major headache!

When Outlook 2003 was installed, I didn't realize that Auto Archive was
automatically enabled--that's a bad default setting! I lost quite a few
emails from my sent emails folder, but none were too tragic. So last week,
when I realized what had happened, I located and disabled all Auto Archive
functions in the options window.

Today, when I went to sort my previous week's emails into folders, I faced
the same thing, again, but this time some important emails have disappeared.
Auto Archive is still off, and they were not deleted, but searches have
produced nothing. I enabled hidden folder view, and searched all hidden
files, but a search shows there are no PST files on the computer, anywhere.
So where did my emails go?

Where do I go from here?

Outlook 2003 - Missing Emails

The Auto Archive feature was turned off. Trying to go through the
Deleted folder and no missing emails there as well.

I read few posting from other groups indicating that some hidden pst
files may be found. What are they usually called in ".pst"?

Thanks.

A PST is the file extension used by the file(s) that hold your Personal
Folders (Inbox, Outbox, Calendar, Contacts, etc.). Its default location is
a hidden folder, but you can easily see the path to that file with FIle>Data
File Management.
