emails missing after reading in Outlook Web

I am using XP SP3, Outlook 2003 and Exchange Server

After reading my emails in Outlook Web they are no longer visible when I
close down the program and return to it. No other users at my work place are
experiencing this problem.

They are still visible in my inbox in Outlook 2003 (Start | Microsoft
Office Outlook).

Where are my messages and how do I stop them going missing?

In Outlook Web Access, is your view set to "Unread Messages" or "Unread by
Conversation Topic"? (These two views hide read items from view.)
