emails only show in "all outlook items"

Just upgraded someone from outlook 2002 to 2007. Emails appeared to be
coming in but we couldn't find them in Inbox or elsewhere. I did a
search for today's date in Inbox and it said there were none and
offered a link to expand the search to "all outlook items" (or I've
also seen "all mail items"). The search then finds a long list of
emails that came in today, and in the "folder" column says they're in
Inbox. I've sorted inbox by date, double checked that filtering is
turned off. Even the number next to the folder that says how many
unread msgs doesn't reflect the new ones that have come in. The search
shows these emails as being in inbox not a subfolder. Once I find them
in search I've tried moving them to another folder to see if they show
up but it doesn't help. Somehow outlook can't see these emails any way
except to search "all items". Any clues?

Thanks

I'm having simialr problem except I did not upupgrade. What worked fo rme
is if i exited the Inbox by going to another folder and when I came back in,
the emails would show. Wierd. -

i think the problem is the change from 2002 to 2007 :). Sometimes
there are compatility-issues. maybe you have to repair or rebuilt
the .pst file. that could also the reason why the search finds the
mails but they are not recongnized by outlook 2007.
if the old .pst file is not needed very often, i´d backup it as
archive and create a new one for 2007.
this is the easiest way if you need the old mails not instantly. if
you need them you can find them by searching.

the only thing is that i do not know if outlook´s instant-search is
able to search in archives or old .pst files.
i just use Lookeen and this search-tool can do that. so i can always
search for my old mails (i backup my .pst every three months). if you
are interested in that tool check http://www.lookeen.net

Actually, I did not upgrade from 2002 to 2007, Ive been using 2007 all
along, it all of a sudden started doing this. I have another
unrelated(possibly) question: It recently started asking me for my password
for my backup file. Is that normal? -asif
