Emails show up as folders

When Entourage updates new emails show up as Subject.eml, e.g. "Google Alert.eml". Since it is a folder I can't read the email.

Contacts appear to show up the same way. Is it a problem with the exchange server, or something that happened to Entourage? It was working fine the day before, and I can't think what I would have changed.

Thanks,
Jonathan

I've been trying to find an answer for you but have received nothing yet.
I've just pinged my source again. Have you created a new Identity to see if
that helps? I know the sync process is going to be long, but that might be
what it takes to fix this.

Thanks for the response.

I am in the process of copying all files and folders to "On My Computer" then will delete the account and recreate it. Then push all the stuff back. It will take a long time but...

I will let you know if it works.

My fear is that whatever has caused the problem in the first place will return and I will be in the same mess I am in now.

Rather than doing that, I would create a new Identity. I'm afraid the
problem is in your database. You had mentioned you did a rebuild previously
if I remember correctly.

If you select export as Entourage archive (.rge), can you export the
messages that are in your database now? This would be an easy way to get
them into a new Identity.

Will export as Entourage archive get everything? Or just what is in the Exchange account?

I started pushing everything over to "On My Computer" so I have most of the stuff moved over.

Do I need to export once from the Exchange account and another time from the My Computer account?

Thanks,
Jonathan

I tried exporting, and the application told me that there was a problem it might be with the database, and run the database utility. So, I am doing that now. However in doing so I realized there was a database rebuild that happened about the time everything started going curfluey.

Right now I am rebuilding the main identity. Then hopefully i can export.

ok I am now at an impasse. I ran the database utility which told me everything was fine. I then re-ran the export which told me there was a problem.

Help.

The verify can be wrong. If the export fails, this definitely indicates a
problem. This requires you to do more manual moving of data. Drag individual
messages or folders.
