Embed/Attach File in Word Doc

Does anyone know how to embed or attach a file into a word doc so it appears
as an ICON (much like it would in Outlook)

When I try to "Attach" or "Drag" a file into my word document, it simply
pastes all the words of the file being attached (i.e., way too much)

In Word 2003 or earlier, click Insert > Object. In Word 2007, click
the Insert tab of the ribbon and click the Object button in the Text
group.

In either case, a dialog opens. Click the Create From File tab of the
dialog. Check the box for "Display as icon". Browse to select the file
and then click OK.
