Why can't you embed OLE objects in OneNote pages?

I can embed updating files in my CAD and DTP programs.

Why on earth have they not made this possible? It would have made OneNote
incredibly more powerful, so there has to be some damn good reason.

Was it possible in OneNote 2003? I seem to remember something about that,
but I did not use OneNote much those days.

OLE support just is not implemented in ON.

Yes, and it's a real pity with quite some other applications too, f.e.
Excel or PowerPoint and many more.

I don't know the reasons, only developers could say.
But I think that it would have been implemented had it been not too
complicated.
It could be, however, that the someway "common" opinion that OLE would

AFAIK it was not implemented in the previous version either. ON2007 has
not been deprived of any functionality its predecessor had.

You may post this as a suggestion for the next version in "Connect",
the place for submitting suggestions and bug reports to the developers
team:

When done, pls drop a note with the URL in here so that we can jump in
and vote for your suggestion

You might also search there for "OLE". I assume that there might be some
older threads dealing with this issue. I recall that this had been
pretty often asked for in this Newsgroup (the content of which
unfurtunately is not held in the server long enough and therefire does
not reach back long enough).
