New user to Word 2007 (Office 2007, SP1).
In Word 2003, I could break the links to ALL linked graphics at once and
make them embedded by selecting the entire document (CTRL+A), then going to
Edit > Links, and selecting the Save Picture in Document check box.
In Word 2007, I select the entire document, click [big Microsoft Office
button] > Prepare > Edit Links to Files, and find that only the FIRST file
listed is selected, not all of them. This means I have to scroll to the end
(and there could be a few hundred graphics in a large document), do
Shift+Click to select them all (Ctrl+A doesn't work in this dialog box), THEN
select the Save Picture in Document check box.
I Googled and found that you can't see the file path of a linked graphic
with ALT+F9 if the document was saved in *.docx format - to fix that, you had
to save it in *.doc format and then it worked. Well, that's the same for this
'select all' functionality. If I save the document as a *doc file, then do
Ctrl+A on the document, then MS Office button > Prepare > Edit Links to
Files, ALL the linked files are selected. But if the document is saved as
*.docx I only get the FIRST one listed selected.
Is this a known issue? I can't find any record of it in the KB, and the
forum post where I found the 'save as a *.doc' tip is more than 12 months
old. (Forum post here:

Is there any way to get this functionality in the *.docx format? Or do I
have to switch between formats to do this task?
