Embed MS Project within own app?

Hello!

I know Visio 2003 can be embedded within custom application, but I have hard
time finding MS Project 2003 embedding capabilities.

We need good Gantt chart functionality for scheduling and our end-users are
familiar with MS Project (they have it already), so providing them with
exactly the same Gantt functionality than in MS Project would be a great
benefit for us.

Basically we plan to create "on-the-fly" the required MS Project document
structure and catch the changes back.

If only there is a way to embed the MS Project views into custom application.

Best regards,

There is not a way to do this. The best way to get what you want is for
your application to automate an existing installation of Project on
their desktop. So instead of the view happening in your application,
your application opens project, puts in the right data from your
application and then displays that data directly in Project. Then if
you need to you could grab any changes they make in Project and put it
back into your application.

Hi Brian!

Thanks for the swift and clarifying answer. We had alternative plan to grab
a commercial Gantt control, so getting such an clear answer that fast really
helped us a lot :)

there are some nice controls out there im sure but give some thought to
using automation. If your customers are familiar with Project it could
really open up some new ways of working with both applications. I dont
know what your app does but providing your users with hooks into other
applications never hurts.
