Embedded Excel 2000 Chart not showing in Word

A word document was sent with an excel chart embedded.
However instead of the chart showing, the only thing on
the line was: {embedded chart8}
Does this mean that the link to it has been broken or is
there a setting somewhere that has to be changed? Why
isn't the chart showing?

Are you on the same network? If not and the link points to a file on the
sender's network, you cannot access it.

The file was sent from one office to another via email.
The receiver stated that he seems to be receiving word
docs with either charts or pictures in them however they
aren't showing up. I thought it might have been because
the link has been broken, however if he is having trouble
with some inserted objects (not all) could there be
something wrong with his Word programme?
