Embedded excel are bad rendere

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC Embedding an excel object in a word document create a bad image of the document fargment.
Using Office 2004 works correctly.

Any suggestion?
I need to keep the excel table editable and inside the word document, so using the linked file and html export is not an option

Also what seems wrong are the prorpotions of the embedde object
